Logan North Library Handover

Logan residents can now browse and borrow books, periodicals and new media in a brand new fresh, light, purpose-built library constructed by Project Coordination (Qld).  The $4M building, on the corner of Sports Drive and Springwood Road, Logan, provides residents of Logan City with an airy, well-planned and comfortable community facility to replace the existing interim library in the shell of the old Ikea premises at Springwood.

Logan City Council commissioned Project Coordination to build the library and associated community facilities on the site of existing asphalt car parking in the Logan Aquatic Centre precinct.  Additional new car parking has also been provided.  Work began on the two-storey reinforced concrete and steel structure in November 2007, with the new library opening its doors to eager borrowers at the end of July 2008.

The project encompasses 1600m2 of library and administration space on the upper level, with a community meeting room as well as plant room facilities and undercover car parking on the lower (ground) level.

Now thanks to Project Coordination (Qld), northern Logan City residents can browse, read, study and borrow in an easily accessible, relaxing and comfortable environment.

Vote of confidence in PCQ from past client

The dynamic and entrepreneurial Griffith University has acknowledged PCQ's professionalism by appointing the company D&C Manager on its latest project.

The $20M project will establish a new Science & Engineering building at GU's Gold Coast Campus to support science and engineering teaching and research delivery.

The development will consolidate and extend activities of the Griffith School of Engineering.  It will also establish a Gold Coast base for the School of Biomolecular and Physical Sciences, house the University's Science, Engineering, Environment & Technology Group Executive, and create a headquarters and shopfront for the Federally-funded $50M National Climate Change Adaptation Research Facility.  It will also provide the opportunity for partnership with business and industry through co-location of commercial space for suitably aligned companies in the science, technology and engineering sectors.

PCQ has commenced preliminary work on the project.  The handover date is 5 January 2010.  The company's previous job for Griffith University, the $9.6M G31 Arts & Education facility, won the 2007 MBA Excellence in Building Award for Education Facilities $2M-$10M.

For this project PCQ will implement the Hindmarsh QES system, as part of its broader integration into parent company Hindmarsh's systems and processes.
